4e9b0a425e94278598916fbd99ea98081427912051 Following the success of the Pathfinder class in Operation Delta Rising, Starfleet Corps of Engineers teams at the Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards began work on updates of other core ship designs in the Federation fleet. The Andromeda Exploration Cruiser is the first ship from this effort to be released to Starfleet captains. An update of the famed Galaxy class that was the flagship of Starfleet in the mid-24th century, the Andromeda incorporates updated technology developed to give this ship improved capabilities for the difficult challenges Starfleet faces in the months ahead.

This starship features a Lieutenant Commander Engineering/Command specialist seat.

Costume

The Andromeda Class Exploration Cruiser has its own unique costumes and gains access to parts from the Galaxy and Monarch costumes and can also use parts from the Venture Class if you own that starship.

Experimental shielding technology has taken a turn towards offensive weaponry, allowing this device to generate a local field that damages the molecular bonds of matter in a short radius. The Molecular Cohesion Nullifier Field will also protect the user from all sources of damage while active. Both the damage and damage resistance effects will resonate at more powerful frequencies, based on how many foes are within the affected area. In addition, while equipped, this console also provides a passive bonus to max sub-system power levels.

This unique console may be equipped on any Exploration Cruiser variant or Starfleet Dreadnought Cruiser, in any console slot. You may only equip one of these mods on any single ship.

Star Trek Online – Tier 6 Starship – Pathfinder Class – Long Range Science Vessel

When planning first began for Operation Delta Rising, the Starfleet Corps of Engineers quickly realized that an updated version of the famed Intrepid Class would be essential for the mission’s success. Most of the advanced technology used in the Pathfinder was first tested on the U.S.S. Voyager, which was completely updated before it departed for the Delta Quadrant. When Admiral Tuvok was satisfied with the ship’s performance, work could begin to produce Pathfinders for the fleet.

The Pathfinder Class Features a hybrid Intelligence Bridge Officer seat and comes equipped with the Aero Shuttle universal console. While this console is equipped, the Pathfinder can deploy an Aero Shuttle which will provide support during combat. The Aero Shuttle may be equipped in any console slot of any long range science vessel. The Pathfinder also comes equipped with a Deteriorating Secondary Deflector MKX. This may be equipped on any vessel with a secondary deflector slot.

When you reach level 5 in Starsip Mastery in a Pathfinder, you will unlock the Ablative Field Projector starship trait. When this trait is active, all your shield heals will provide a small measure of temporary hit-points to the target.

The Pathfinder Class also features a custom starship material. This may be used on any long range science vessel variant

While i’m not exactly a fan of the idea of Starfighters within the StarTrek Universe, I am all for them in Sci-Fi in general. And this one, as designed by Andrew Gillespie & GKD Designs, is pretty cool. Great lines and superb detail work.

Not sure if they have any other designs out there, but I would be curious to see what they are able to do with a Starfleet starship.

Star Trek Online – Guardian Class Cruiser

Guardian001 Guardian004 Guardian003 Guardian002Starfleet’s Guardian Cruiseris a Tier6 starship that was designed to be a very versatile starship capable of accomplishing nearly any classification of mission. It also features a hybrid Lieutenant Intel/Engineering seat.

The Guardian Cruiser comes equipped with a Particle Conversion Matrix. When activated, your shields will become significantly more dureable, allowing them to absorb more damage for a short time. During this time, any incoming energy weapon fire has a high chance of boosting your own energy weapon damage.

This console can only be equipped on the Guardian Cruiser and the Fleet Guardian Cruiser, but can be put into any of the console slots. You may only equip one of these consoles.

After acheiving level 5 in your Guardian Cruiser, you will unlock the Desperate Repairs starship trait. While this trait is slotted, each time your starship is critically hit you receive a Desperation Counter. Immediately upon receiving a third Desperation Counter you will receive a large hull and shield heal and will be unable to gain Desperation Counters for a while.

The original Duantless Class science vessel, discovered by the crew of the U.S.S. Voyager, was actually alien in origin. It featured Quantum Slipstream Drive technology, which was groundbreaking at the time, but ultimately this ship was created using particle synthesis to fool and trap the crew of the Voyager. In 2410, the blueprints for the original alien ship were closely examined and Starfleet Engineering Corps were able to recreate this impressive Tier6 science vessel.

The Experimental Science Vessel comes equipped with a Particle Synthesizer Universal Console which allows your starship to project a particle synthesis beam at a distant target that causes your target and nearby enemies to take on  your starship’s appearance, thus causing tremendous confusion amongst your enemies. Additionally, a photonic decoy of your starship is created near your position to draw the attention of your enemies.

This console can only be equipped on the Experimental Science Vessel and the Fleet Experimental Science Vessel, but can be put into any of their console slots. You may only equip one of these consoles.

After advancing to level 5 in your Experimental Science Vessel, you will unlock the Radiant Nanite Cloud starship trait. While this trait is slotted, causes all hull heals to heal for an additional 25% over 4 seconds in  a 3km radius.

The Experimental Science Vessel comes equipped with a Deteriorating Secondary Deflector MkX. This Secondary Deflector can be equipped on any vessel with a secondary deflector slot.

She’s named after my 2nd daughter’s middle name…sort of a tradition for this new STO character, as you’ll see with the next couple of ships.

I rather like this design…an upgrade to the old Constitution Class.

Star Trek Online – Personal Starship – Modified Shikar class – -U.S.S. Patriot

It’s been a few years since STO came online. A lot has changed. New contant has been added. Many new starships, as you’ve seen in previous posts. Older missions have been retooled. Some of the more repetitive farming missions have been removed altogether.

Just for kicks I decided to go ahead and create a new Starfleet officer and live the experience again…also with slightly better computer so i can enjoy better graphics along the way.

This new character, Johnathan Able, is focusing on the Engineering Career Path (instead of science like my other long-standing character). The ships he will be commanding will be Cruisers.

First up, the U.S.S. Patriot, NCC-93503. She is a modified Shikar Class. This is your beginner level starship, unless you choose to purchase one of the 3 C-store ships available. I have them, but chose to scrap them for their special items and fly the standard ship.

Oh, and here’s Ensign Able as well…

Patrol Escort Refit: Tempest Class


The Patrol Escorts were envisioned as escorts with an engineering bent. The Patrol Escort Refit: Tempest Class improves on those original designs with greatly improved Bridge Officer seating, a 5th Tactical Console slot, and additional aft firepower that will give Tempest captains new options in combat.

The Tempest comes equipped with a Nadion Saturation Bomb console. Firing the Nadion Saturation Bomb lays down a string of explosive fire that strafes between the ship and its target and then continues to detonate past the target. Any enemy ships caught in the explosions will take severe damage. After detonation, an intense Nadion Radiation Field lingers in space, creating a deadly hazard for enemies. The Nadion Saturation Bomb console may be equipped in any console slot of any Patrol Escort.

The Patrol Escort Refit: Tempest Class also comes with the Aft-Firing Tempest Tail Gun. This unique dual cannon is set up to fire on targets in the rear 90 degree arc of the Patrol Escort, and defaults to the Rapid Fire I firing mode. Like other cannons, the Aft-Firing Tempest Tail Gun can be modified by Scatter Volley and higher rank Rapid Fire bridge officer abilities. The Aft-Firing Tempest Tail Gun is fused to its own slot and does not fill one of the ships three aft weapons slots. It cannot be removed.*

The Patrol Escort Refit comes with the new Tempest class costume by default. As a Patrol Escort, it can also use costume parts from the Dervish, Gryphon and Hermes class costumes. If you have already unlocked the Maelstrom costume, it will also be available to you. Purchasing the Patrol Escort Refit: Tempest Class will unlock the Tempest costume for all Patrol Escorts.

Star Trek Online – Special Starship – Heavy Escort Carrier – Armitage Class

The original Akira Class Heavy Escort was envisioned as a light carrier and torpedo boat.  Although it could be equipped with several torpedo launchers, it never lived up to its full potential, and Starfleet never felt much of a need to engineer its starships as carriers. But a war on multiple fronts have inspired Starfleet engineers to re-envision old designs. Building upon the Akira’s latest prodigy, the Thunderchild, Starfleet has released the latest in a proud line: The Heavy Escort Carrier: Armitage Class.

The Heavy Escort Carrier lives up to pedigree, and finally fulfills its predecessors original role. The Heavy Escort Carrier comes with a single hangar bay with a wing of Peregrine Fighters. Other hanger ships can also be equipped if desired. It is also a powerful torpedo boat that is equipped with a Photon Torpedo Point Defense System. This Console Mod fires a massive photon torpedo barrage at multiple targets in all directions. The Photon Torpedo Point Defense System can only be equipped on the Heavy Escort Carrier. It may be placed in any console slot, but you may only equip one of these mods.

The Heavy Escort Carrier configuration includes the Armitage, Akira, Oslo, and Zephyr classes.
